I have tried that... What bugs me is that the disc as clean as I can get and BOTH drives are having the problem.... Driving me nuts!MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 5:30 amThose mean the drive is having trouble reading a section of the disc. Try cleaning the disc before attempting to rip it again.rlentz2024 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 1:33 amI'm sorry guys... I'm at a lost... I have two different drives and they both give the following errors with Avatar, The Way of the Water.
-Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR'
-STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR' occurred while reading '\Device\CdRom0'
- MEDIUM ERROR:L-EC UNCORRECTABLE ERROR' occurred while reading '
I swore I ripped it in early 2025 on a different version and now on 1.18.1 But now that I'm trying to rip it again (To have a Remux copy), I get the above errors and don't know why.
Also have done the lastst Find VUK as of today with no luck. Any help would be great.

Today i got a UHD disc that shows me many of these m2ts errors and cant be ripped.
The first information you get here is to clean your disc.
Ok sometimes there are fingerprints or dust on a disc but sometimes the disc is clean and you got also these errors.
First i thought that the disc was defect.
I testet it in my StandAlone Player...it works.
Ok, ripping with makemkv an wantching in a Player is not the same, so i take the disc put it in the same drive and tested it with VSO Inspector. VSO Inspector cant find any errors.
After that i searched the net, every time you can read that the disc is defect or must be cleaned.
After that i put the IO settings to a higher level than 5 after that i added this to the mkv registry (you find it under KEY_CURRENT_USER):
io_IgnoreReadErrors
you must create it with DWORD and activate it with 1
After that i try the same disc again and got the same m2ts errors but now the disc can be ripped succefully.
I tested the mkv on my vlc and the movie plays without any errors.
So whats going on here? When so many m2ts files are really corrupt because of dust or a disc defect it is absolutly not possible that the ripped mkv file worked without any issues.

It's not so much dust or a defect (yes, there are quite a few defective UHD discs about). It is more the fact that most UHD discs have an invisible layer of film on them from the manufacturing process that needs to be cleaned off.Bombart wrote: ↑Fri Nov 21, 2025 12:14 amToday i got a UHD disc that shows me many of these m2ts errors and cant be ripped.

Hello. I'm new here. How do you safely clean it off? I have a Hobbit UHD release that I can't rip. It either doesn't load correctly or when it does, the drive freezes.MartyMcNuts wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 10:42 pmIt's not so much dust or a defect (yes, there are quite a few defective UHD discs about). Try giving it a good wipe with a microfiber cloth first and see if that helps. If not, try a deeper clean using a microfiber cloth and soapy water then dry with a microfiber cloth and let it finish air drying overnight.Ichirare wrote: ↑Mon Feb 23, 2026 8:35 pmHello. If it still doesn't work after that, try a different drive as not every drive will read every disc. If still not working in anther drive, the disc is probably faulty.

Re: If you're experiencing rip errors, please read here first!
Hi all!
Hoping you can help me with an error I'm having with a specific disk (at this time, it doesn't seem to be affecting any other disks).
tl;dr
- Purchased Attack on Titan Season 3 Steelbook. Part 2, Disc 2 of that season just will not read/rip in my LG BD-RE WH16NS60 (Flashed to read UHD discs)
- It does read in my PS5 and in my dad's LG drive (not flashed)
The disc just seems to cause my drive to spit out garbage because I get errors like

and

If the disc DOES show up properly in MakeMKV - it doesn't read properly (the logs in my MakeMKV container say "Disk is not a BD/DVD")
Any advice is appreciated - I'm hoping the drive just needs a clean or something? Just doesn't make sense to me why ONLY this disc fails in ONLY this drive.
Could reflashing the firmware help? Or is that only likely to cause more issues.
