AACS v82 submission Media that records television programs

Post by Nokure »

v1.18.1 was unable to decrypt.
I am currently using the latest version v1.18.2, but it still cannot decrypt AACS v82. I am seeking assistance.

I loaded a Blu-ray disc I received from a friend, but now I can't rip it.

I sent the same email to "svq@makemkv.com" a few days ago,
but I haven't received a reply, so I'm posting this on the forum.

You won't receive a reply via email, but eventually when you try the disc again, MakeMKV will download a hashed key for the disc so it can be decrypted.

Thank you for your answer.

The latest HK was downloaded, so
I tried again, but it didn't work.

I opened discatt.dat after backing up the disk,
but would the backup data not work?

I'm sorry I don't know much about this,
but does the hash key change each time you rewrite data on the same disk?

Hello.
I'm still not able to resolve the issue.

I looked at other topics and saw that someone had uploaded a firmware dump file, so I tried uploading it to OneDrive.

The file size of _private_data.tar is only 2,211KB,
but is the download not working properly?
The online update setting is enabled, but the proxy server setting is empty.

The following is output to the log:
MakeMKV v1.18.2 win(x64-release) started
Downloading latest SDF to C:\Users\{UserName}/.MakeMKV ...
Saved FW dump file as C:\Users\{UserName}/.MakeMKV/dump_FW_655F5A02B3616994423D.tgz
Please send the file "C:\Users\{UserName}/.MakeMKV/dump_FW_655F5A02B3616994423D.tgz" to support@makemkv.com
Opening files on harddrive at Z:/DVD_VIDEO_RECORDER
This disc uses newer version of AACS protection. Please let us know about it by visiting http://www.makemkv.com/a/?OEkC4nl+yXc7iL...
Downloading latest HK to C:\Users\{UserName}/.MakeMKV ...
Saved AACS dump file as C:\Users\{UserName}/.MakeMKV/MKB_v82_unkn0wn_6B16.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

I apologize for bothering you during your busy schedule, but I would appreciate your assistance.

means that MakeMKV is downloading the latest hashed keys when necessary. It stores them in _private_data.tar and that file will slowly get bigger over time.

Since MakeMKV is downloading keys but your particular disc can not be decrypted (even though you've emailed the dump) means that a hashed key has not yet been created for that disc. It it not uncommon that a queue of dumps to turn into hashed keys builds up and it takes a little while for MakeMKV to catch up. Eventually your dump will come to the top of the queue. If you email the dump again, it won't go any faster, but it won't hurt anything. :)

If you don't want to wait for MakeMKV's hashed key process, the Public KeyDB might already have a key for whatever disc you're trying to decrypt. You can download it and configure MakeMKV to use it in addition to the built in hashed key mechanism.

Thank you for your reply.

The file size of _private_data.tar increased when the disc was read, so it appears the hash key was downloaded successfully.

However, since it still cannot be decrypted, it appears that the hash key for the disc has not been created.

I tried placing the keydb.cfg file in the following directory, but it still could not be decrypted, so it appears that it is not registered in the public key database either.

This is obviously not a standard blu-ray disc. Your dump file doesn't contain any Unit_Key_RO.inf file at all, and the discatt.dat file doesn't contain a VolumeID, so I seriously doubt a key for this is will be derived. As far as I am aware, recordings from TV cannot be decrypted in the same way as a standard blu-ray disc.
Cheers :D

Hello MartyMcNuts.
Thank you for your reply.

Does this mean that discs with recorded TV shows on them will no longer be able to be decrypted?

Or will this problem be solved by purchasing the UHD-compatible drive mentioned in the link?

What do you mean no longer be able to be decrypted? Have they ever been able to be decrypted?

As they are not like a standard commerical pressed blu-ray disc, I'm pretty sure they can only be decrypted and played on the device that recorded them. I seriously doubt MakeMKV (or any other software for ripping standard commerically pressed blu-ray discs) could decrypt them.

Yes, until now I've been able to decrypt TV programs recorded on a Blu-ray recorder.
I could decrypt them by reading the disc, or by backing them up and then reading discatt.dat and decrypting them.

So I thought I'd be able to decrypt them as usual this time as long as I could download the hash key.

MakeMKV does not yet natively support AACS v82 so this is most likely your issue. A key cannot be generated for public KeyDB as there is no VolID in the discatt.dat file and no Unit_Key_RO.inf file. You will just have to wait until MakeMKV natively supports it.
