Visual Subtitles are stuck on when exporting through MakeMKV

Post by Dominator211 »

Hey all,

I am in the process of ripping a bunch of Blu-Rays to put into a Jellyfin server; however, when I play a ripped MKV, what I can only describe as "visual subtitles" are stuck and embedded into the main audio track. For example, if I rip a Marvel movie, as the Marvel logo appears, a voice says, "Pages or old comic books flicker by on the screen as the Marvel logo begins to appear." It does this for the entire movie, and I don't know "how to turn it off," so to speak. I am only ripping the English subtitles, but no matter what combination I click, the visual subtitles are always on.

Here is a screenshot for a Blu-Ray of Jungle Cruise and the audio I have selected as well as the disk drive I am using: https://imgur.com/a/OruEJ9q

One thing I noticed is that when I select both the 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound tracks, the outputted file does not have any audio at all. My best guess is that it is something with my disk drive itself. Hopefully, someone can help. Please feel free to ask any questions as needed!

That's a "Descriptive Audio" track for the film, for blind people/hard of seeing.

It sounds like your Jellyfin server is serving that audio track instead of the primary one. I would see if you can select a different audio track in your player.
