Can't read certain discs

I'm not sure if it's a drive or disc issue. Older discs seem to have better luck, but most my discs the drive doesn't recognize when put in. The drive reads all data DVD and CDs fine. And all the blu ray discs read fine in a player and PlayStation.

I have googled for days with no information similar to this, is it an age of the drive issue? Do older drives not read newer blu rays?

Bluray and DVD use different lasers. If the drive can read CD/DVD (red laser), but not BD (blue laser), it is possible you've lost a laser.
