This is a BD-R produced by the filmmaker and sold on their website.
It plays fine on multiple different drives, including the one I'm trying to use for the back-up.
But when I try to have Make MKV start reading the disc, it shuts down within a second, and the debug log shows:
Using LibreDrive mode (v01.0 id=2D22701B6D8C)
Using direct disc access mode
DEBUG: Code 0 at q||&e6 zKb*Tq,"Z:121267500
DEBUG: Code 0 at q||&e6 zKb*Tq,"Z:121263682
DEBUG: Code 0 at q||&e6 zKb*Tq,"Z:213131341
Failed to open disc
Cleaned the disc a couple of times, tried an older, alternate drive, but nothing. Have copied other discs before and since with no problem.
Because this is a BD-R, so many not last as long I'd love to be able to make a back up, but never seen anything quite like this in many hundreds
of MakeMKV rips.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated!!

Will MakeMKV create a backup of the disc? On the first screen of MakeMKV, after you've inserted the disc, click the icon of the yellow folder with the green arrow.

Hi!
Thanks for the suggestion, it makes sense, but sadly, it didn't work. I just get;
Using LibreDrive mode (v01.0 id=2D22701B6D8C)
Backing up disc into folder "/Users/mishaowl/Movies/backup/SLEEP_HAS_HER_HOUSE"
DEBUG: Code 0 at q||&e6 zKb*Tq,"Z:121267500
DEBUG: Code 0 at q||&e6 zKb*Tq,"Z:121263682
DEBUG: Code 0 at XWR*7^nm}Q!$?b{j;#$:121273319
DEBUG: Code 0 at PN<KE);C4Po8GmYU2S>@:121265338
Backup failed
There's obviously something odd with the disc. I tried making a back-up copy with 'Burn' - which is sort of a much less useful mac variation of imagburn - and I got an ISO -- but it wouldn't open to convert with MakeMKV, nor could it be opened to play by VLC. The only thing that finally did work - sort of - was Handbrake, which I haven't used much. After 7 hours it gave me a playable mp4 copy, but despite setting it for 'Super HQ' the file was 40% smaller than the original, which means more compression/loss than I would would want. So the mystery continues.

Re: 'Sleep Has Her House' getting 'DEBUG Code 0' and 'failed to open disc'
For the record, I finally solved this. I tried using MakeMKV on ONLY the BDMV files created when I did a copy of the disc in 'Burn', not the whole ISO (which also had the certificate file). That worked. Gave me a playable, full sized mkv file.
