Got those Hurt Locker blues. :(

Post by Hubba Bubba »

Can't back up The Hurt Locker. Any suggestions? It immediately fails. I select main read, DTS, DD5.1 plus subs and deselect all other items.

Video is set to AUTO
Read Retry Count set to 5
Read Buffer Size set to Auto
Under Protection "Always create BD+dumps" is not checked

Hi!

Does your original, commercial Blu-ray disc play properly on the same system that's produced the backup failure?

Well... good call! The disc wouldn't play on any of the four Blu-Ray players or my computer. I took it back to Best Buy and they gave me a $10 off coupon to go with my next purchase for the trouble.

1) Does the replacement disc play properly?

2) Have you now successfully made a backup with MakeMKV?

No problems ripping Hurt Locker here with 1.6.16. Mine is lossless + 5.1 normal with English subtitles. Standard settings.

P.S. Of the 40 or so Blurays I've done so far, only Crank 2 and Watchmen Director's Cut give me issues. But never a disk reading issue, and never backing up the full blu-ray. It's only MKV conversion.

The drive can not read the disc.

This is not a copy protection issue.

This is a hardware issue.

Either the disc is damaged or your drive is failing.

That's strange because i ripped two other discs with it and it came out fine. I guess the disc is the issue? Yet it plays fine in my laptop too.

@drvenom14

Hi!

Try running a cleaning disc on your desktop reader/burner. Maxell makes one that sells for about $10US...
