"Fake playlist" protection - help needed

What is the "fake playlist"?

I am new to this. Thank you for your understanding.

You'll have found a disc with it if you try to rip a movie that seems to have several hundred copies of the movie on it.

Yes, only one is correct. Unfortunately, the others are not empty shells. They are also full length movies that might have a part missing or a couple scenes out of order or some other subtle, incorrect variation.

Ditto. I came here hoping someone had found the answer. Very frustrating. The last time I had this problem was another Flicker Alley disc. Bla. Anyone have any ideas?

This sure helped me, I've been used to seeing many files, but I could pick the largest one and it would be right. Midway- 4K UHD and the 1080p disks both had about 80 files that were all the largest size, so on both I just picked the first one, both were wrong, I didn't know about this Fake Playlist thing and thought I had a bad factory burn because it would start at the beginning an hour into the movie. Doing the backup method let me see the correct one. I've been watching the 1080p one I did and put on my server while I'm encoding the 4K 2160p one after having done it's backup. ~Thank you.

Sent in a report for the Flicker Alley release "Laurel & Hardy: Year Two - The Newly Restored 1928 Silents".
Some of the mkv files end up with 10-20 seconds of black silence at the end that gets stuck when playing. Just trim it off with mkvtoolnix.
