Batman The Complete Animated Series - No dialogue on first episode

#1 Post by Vulkanvvitch » Sat Feb 17, 2024 3:20 pm

Hi all,

Very frustrating problem. Disc one, episode one - there are 3 audio tracks available to rip and I grab them all. After the rip, during playback, there are 3 audio tracks available, but they are ALL commentary tracks and nothing with the episode original audio. This is not a problem with ANY of the other 12 episodes on the disc. I've ripped and check every other title available to rip but none of them are the first episode with original dialogue audio. Anyone have an idea how to located the audio for the first episode?

First pic is the available tracks to rip
Second pic is the episode in question

Thanks in advance for your help.

P.S. - On a related note, the only other time I have experienced this problem is with Blade (1998) blu-ray - I never solved that either.

I've seen some shows where when an episode has commentary tracks, there are two titles for the same episode on the disc. One has the normal audio and one has the commentary audio. I rip them both and add the commentary audio into the .mkv with the normal audio using MKVToolNix GUI afterwards.

Maybe that's what's going on with this TV show. I don't have any experience with it to know for sure one way or the other.

I thought also hit this issue (this board has at least 3 threads about it), but there's 14 episodes in the list and only 13 episodes on the disc. The first of the 14 is "On Leather Wings" with the commentary, and another has it without the commentary (probably the 2nd of the 14 since it has the same length and size).

Thanks for you reply. I've ripped every episode on the disc and checked them all. None of them are the first episode with normal audio.

For what it's worth, the disc I have has:
Label: Batman_Animated_Series_D1
Timestamp: 2018-09-11 17:46:41

I see a few more short titles than in the OP's image, but that may be because I have the minimum title length setting set to 50 seconds.

Of the first two episode titles (the 3.1GB ones) the first has source 00201.mpls and 3 "DD Stereo English" for Audio, and the second has source 00071.mpls and "DTS-HD MA Stereo English" (with "DTS Stereo English" as a suboption). During saving both use source file 00347.m2ts. The resulting mkv files are approx 2.6 GB and 3.1 GB.
