Very happy with performance generally. However, this error keeps occurring for DVD The Hunted (1995).
MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB' at offset '3754319872'
Error 'Scsi error - MEDIUM ERROR:UNRECOVERED READ ERROR' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_01_1.VOB' at offset '3754319872'
Failed to save title 0 to file C:/Users/user/Videos/MKV/title00.mkv

Is there anyway to resolve this? Great films need backups

The "fix" is to find out why your drive can't read part of the disk. Most likely causes are dirt (particularly fingerprints) and scratches.

My first step is always cleaning, using furniture polish. The water-based carrier cleans the fingerprints, the wax fills minor scratches. Be sure to use a soft cotton or microfiber cloth when cleaning, so you don't scratch it more, and do not use products that use a petroleum carrier or ammonia.

If that doesn't work, especially if there are visible scratches, you may have to consider having the disk resurfaced. I do NOT recommend trying to do that yourself if you haven't practiced on "less important" disks, and really only if you have the proper tools to do it. Many DVD rental places will resurface customer disks for a nominal fee.

Another possibility exists, though. I had one disk out of a set of 30 that was unreadable. Exchanged the set for a replacement... and the same disk was unreadable in THAT set (bad pressing run, apparently). Ended up renting that disk from Netflix. It took several tries, but I was able to get a good read from the rental.... even it had issues in the same place as the disk in two different sets!
