Tangled DVD

I have the blu-ray 3d Version of tangled and it has a DVD with it. I tried to rip the DVD and although it does have the movie on there, MakeMKV doesn't see it, It does see the trailers and such on there, just not the movie. I doesn't give an error...I ended up using CloneDVD Mobile to rip it, however I'd like to rip into MKV format (CloneDVD Mobile doesn't support MKV). The DVD has two versions of the film each with 3 angles. The first version of the film is 1:40:13, and the second is 1:40:53. I just need to rip a single angle (not all three) to a file...

Thanks
Troy Bennett

First, I'd recommend turning on debug logging, as outlined in the FAQ link in my signature.

The, try ripping the DVD again (at least scan it), and paste the log into a reply here. Don't bother trying to do it as an attachment... won't work.

The three "angles" are probably the English, French, and Spanish versions, with different title/credit text.

Question, though - why are you interested in ripping the DVD if you already have the BD version ripped? If it's to make it available for mobile devices, tools like handbrake can encode a mobile-ready version from the BD file.

as to why I want to rip the dvd when I've already ripped the Blu-ray version is for tablet viewing. I don't want to store a 25+ gb file on my tablet when I have a DVD that would be just fine for that purpose.

To convert for your tablet, go to handbrake.fr and look at Handbrake. Starting with a BD source to generate for iOS or Android works quite well.

Mike will have to look at the debug codes to see what is causing it to not recognize the main feature on the DVD.

I know this was opened 3 years ago but I'm having the problem right now and I don't see an answer. Might there be one? I only own the DVD. Thanks.

The Tangled DVD should be rippable with MakeMKV; I know, I did it (I don't have the BD either, and the kids don't notice the difference).

Are your getting the same debug error messages the original poster had, or different ones?
