Type: Data - Titles don't load

Has anyone had this problem? I load a disc that plays fine in stand alone players on in my DVD-Rom drive. I'm using Mavericks on MacOSX. I load the disc into MKV and the type comes up as "Data" and the titles (there are two of them on the disc) don't load. Nothing happens. The "hard disk" icon you would normally press to get the titles available for ripping is greyed out.
Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks.

In several other messages, Mike suggested not inserting the disk into the drive until after MakeMKV was running; have you tried this? This should prevent OSX from imposing its own interpretation of things.
It is also possible that a disk was created as a DVD data disk, rather than a video disk. Logs would be helpful (see signature).

I did try starting the program before inserting the disc and that didn't help.

I've never seen a playable DVD be recognized as a Data Disc before. Any help is appreciated.
