For some disks, you can use the Manual Open DVD method explained at /manualdvd/ . Unfortunately, you have to know a bit about the structure of the disk to give the right string...

The topic you're replying to is several years old. Did you get any error messages during the loading of the disk? You could be chasing a completely different problem.
