Beavis and Butt-head: Volume 4, discs 1 and 2 Scsi error

I'm having difficulty backing up Beavis and Butt-head: Volume 4, discs 1 and 2. What's interesting is that the error for both discs occurs at the same offset. I've tried 2 different drives with the same results and subsequently backed up the movie, Beavis and Butt-head Do America, without issue.

Because the error occurs at the same offset for both discs, I'm thinking it's some sort of copy protection. Any ideas?

They are brand new, I removed the plastic wrap myself. I have not yet watched them the old fashioned way to verify that there is no apparent error when played in a DVD player. I am able to open the discs and may be able to rip everything - haven't tried, yet.

Are the disks more than 6 months old?

I ask because "sealed in the package" disks will quite often pick up a film from the packaging that must be washed off for the disks to read error-free. It's virtually invisible, unless you clean a portion of it off and look at the disk at an angle.

Both DVDs and BDs are quite susceptible to this.

I have no way to know how old they are. I got them in hand today. Both discs look clean. I'll add that the failure occurs at the same point, as well - 95.9mb.

My Verbatim 43888 / LG BU40N was able to do it.

It still took multiple attempts but it's failures were inconsistent, unlike the attempts with the other drives. It seems to go into sleep mode if a rip takes longer than 20 - 30 minutes or so.
