trouble with a disc

Never seen this before, don't know what it means.
A really old DVD of "The Matrix"
makemkv only retrieves what I think is the dvd index file
vlc and other products can read this disc w/o problem

Does MakeMKV register that there's a disc in the drive?

What happens if you try the various different DVD Opening Modes MakeMKV has?

CellWalk
produce the results described

CellTrim
CellFull
produce results, look identical
for instance, 3 versions of the main feature, one 4 min longer with 99 chapters, the other 2 37 chapters. But appear identical in content, don't know what the time difference means

Part of the difference is the shorter versions start a few minutes into the feature
Not enough to explain entire difference
