Slideshow tracks not recognized on Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs

I'm trying to rip my Buffy the Vampire Slayer DVDs. Some of them contain slideshow videos with photos or original scripts. It seems those are just video tracks as well.

These slideshow tracks are recognized if I read the disc in HandBrake, but they are not recognized by MakeMKV.

I'll attach two screenshots. The first shows the track list in HandBrake containing 11 tracks. Notice the tracks 7 - 10 with a length of 00:00:47. Those are the slideshow videos.

The second screenshot shows the disc in MakeMKV. I see only 7 tracks in total, the 4 slideshow tracks are missing. The log shows that MakeMKV skipped those tracks, for example:

Code: Select all

Title #7 declared length is 0:00:00 while its real length is 0:00:00 - assuming fake title

Is there any option or setting in MakeMKV to override this fake title detection, and force MakeMKV to show the tracks? I know that there's an option called "Minimum title length (seconds)". I set that to 0, but it doesn't make a difference here.

A lot of "slide shows" are collections of still images with time delays. They may seem like they're 20 or 30 minutes long, but actually they're just a few seconds. Try setting your MakeMKV to rip EVERYTHING, and not ignore "short" tracks (under 2 minute usually).

A couple of things you might experiment with...

DVD opening modes - CellWalk, CellTrim, CellFull . CellTrim is successful for some problem discs.

Manual DVD mode

To expose, check 'Expert mode' in Preferences > 'General' tab

The "Minimum title length (seconds)" was set to 0 already. Is there any other option I should check?

I tried all three settings, it doesn't make a difference.

Manual DVD mode
The manual mode looked promising - it shows all 11 tracks (including the slideshows) at first. But when I select the tracks (like "7 8 9 10") it still fails, with a different error message this time.

Code: Select all

Fake cells occupy 100% of the title - assuming fake title
