WH16NS60 Not reading anything after polish attempt

My reader isn't reading my discs anymore and it happened right between two discs.

Context:

I just got some sandpaper to try and polish up a disc that had a few deep scratches and the majority of the episodes were unreadable. So I put in a disc to burn while I polished up this disc. Once I finished polishing the disc and cleaning it off (dried it off) I put it in and it didn't work. I realized I didn't do a great job so I worked on it some more (2000 grit, 2500 grit, polishing compound). I did a bunch of cycles of compound before I got the look I feel was needed to read. Put it in and nothing... I gave up. But when I went to the next brand new disc, nothing. Went back to the disc I just burned, nothing. I can't get it to read anything now.

The only thing I can think of is that the disc had some amount of water on it? However, I thought I did a great job drying them each time... Anyways, I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot why it's not reading anything?

The reason I know it's not reading is because MakeMKV pops up, recognizes a disc, starts spinning, then after about a minute it stops and says "No disc inserted".

Also, the DVD doesn't show up in my drives. However, "DVD Decoder" See's the disc, but just can't do anything with it.

See screenshot for drive details. This was while the DVD was attempting to be loaded. As mentioned, eventually it fails, no errors, just says "No disc inserted".

have you tried fully powering off the drive
if in an external case unplug the power for 5 mins
if in the pc turn off fast start up in windows
fully shut down your pc unplug it 5 mins then see if it comes back
a reboot is not enough most times

Thanks for the suggestion.

I did a soft reset before you posted. I just got through doing a full power down (unplugged) for about 30 mins (drive is external but I figured I'd shut it all down to be safe). No change in behavior.

well sadly then the drive is likely dead you could try direct sata to confirm but its very common with these lg/asus drives lasers just die and that it for it.
i recommend a pioneer if your getting another and if you want to do UHD get one of mine below

Really? :/ I've only had it for 2.5 months. However, I have ripped about 300 discs (blu-ray and dvd).

I mean any drive can die but I have had far better luck with the lifespan of pioneers vs LG/Asus.
