I Have 2 copies, they both fail the same. Tried both CellWalk and Celltrim. 2 laptops.

Not according to your drive, it's not. Usually, this means the disk isn't clean. Did BOTH fail at the SAME point?

Another possibility is that the drive spins up faster than it can sustain on the available power. Laptop drives (internal) are supposed to be "fully powered" to go their top speeds, but that's not a given with a LOT of laptops.
