Source file corrupt error

I have copied bunch of my home video DVD to the HDD and then tried to convert them into mkvs

Majority worked fine (1 title identified), however few of them, where MakeMKV identified 2 or more titles, I got error -

"The source file ХХХХ is corrupt or invalid at offset NNNNNNN attempting to work around"

Then a lot of lines with changed numbers and message that file was not saved

Last file for the lowest title was copied fine

Presume its a kind of problem with ending of the episode with another episode, somehow they can not be merged

I tried to select only first title and run makemkv but in vain

Please help

Damaged / poorly manufactured disc. Swap it for a new one.

I burned the disks by myself, so I dont have spare one to swap. All DVDs are readable and copiable OK - actually makemkv works with disks contents, already copied to HDD

ALL of the disks where only 1 title was identified by program, were converted fine

ALL those where 2 or more titles we found were tagged as "corrupt"

At those, last title was converted OK

It hardly relates to disk manufacturing problem, clearly a software issue, conflicting with titles merging

Appreciate advise

That means that IFO files are incorrect.

How did you author these discs?

Does it work if you open IFO file from disc via File-Open menu and ignore warning?

Well, disks were burned and finalised by standalone recorder

Now I copied disks to HDD and intended to convert them to mkvs (my media player doesnt like VIDEO_RM directory, seemingly)

You mean file-open menu of Media Player? It works absolutely fine

Makemkv also gives no warning until actually hitting the end of first title during actual conversion

What bothers me is that program is unable to convert individual title separately

No, I mean in MakeMKV. Do not press big open button but select "Open" from file menu, navigate to disc root, select VIDEO_TS.ifo and ignore the next warning message.

Why it takes so long to get answers?

Well, your DVD has corrupt VOB files. Did you author the DVD by yourself? If yes, can you make a very small DVD image that still fails?

I dont understand your suggestion

You mean record small file?

Why?

I have different disks and all with same error, and only if multiple titles identified. And all of them are playable fine

It doesnt look like corrupt files, rather inability of the program to correctly process multiple titles except the last one.

The application that you use to create these DVD discs creates broken DVD files. At best, we can add a workaround to MakeMKV to detect and process such broken files, but to do so we need a sample.

I have the same problem. Here is a sample.
[link removed]

At the beginning I had "VIDEO_TS" folder. Then I made ISO-image based on files from this folder. And then I tried to save 4 mkv-files from this image with help of MakeMKV. 1, 2, 4 titles - OK, but the third title "corrupted".
So, I tried to process the source files (not ISO, but "VIDEO_TS" folder). The result was the same.
Now I have cut needed title and sent to you (processing of this part has the same results).

Can you help?

@portfolis

Hi!

There's no need to go through an intermediate step of creating an .ISO image file.

Simply use your original, commercial DVD as your source material for creating your MKV files.

BTW - Have you checked your original, commercial DVD to see if it exhibits the same problematic behavior regarding the third episode (or any episode)?
