3 failed DVD's

I am a first time poster, so excuse me if I am breaking etiquette. Please point me in the right direction.
I have used V1.6.4 and ripped many DVD's successfully. What a wonderful, very efficient tool this is.
However I hve come up againt 3 DVD's which fail the initial processing, parsing files process. They freeze indefinately and my DVD player DMA mode gets changed to PIO. This means I have to disable the IDE ports and reboot for the DMA mode to be restored. Obviously no big deal. But I would like to rip these DVD's if possible.
They are: R2 Caino Royale, Did you hear about the Morgans and Da Vinci Code. Any advice or help please.

Hi!

None of the three titles you noted (4, if you include the much older Woody Allen "Casino Royale") contains any newer copy protection.

Do these original, commercial DVDs play properly on your PC?

Check to see if your original, commercial DVDs are physically damaged or dirty.

If you've gotten heavy usage from your DVD drive/burner, try cleaning the drive with a DVD/CD cleaning disc...

All 3 DVD's play OK on my PC using WMP-HC although I haven't sat and watched them all the way through, I made sure that they all advanced forward a chapter at a time and they are fine.
My DVD burner is only a month old and the DVD's themselves are in perfect condition.

Edit: I have just looked at the boxes and they are all marked as Copy Protected. They are R2 discs and 25% of the DVD's I have are also marked CC although they rip OK.

I have just looked at the boxes and they are all marked as Copy Protected.
That's irrelevant. The vast majority (well over 95%) of commercial DVDs are copy protected...

Fair enough, I bow to your knowledge on this. I am a bit of a novice at computer software (as well as a lot of other things) and seek help with my issue.
Is it then a fact that MakeDVD handles the task of ripping the 95% CC DVD's normally but has certain exceptions.
What do you guys do in those circumstances, use third party software in conjunction with MakeDVD or wait till the SW writer takes account of newly posted DVD's and ammends MakeMKV.
Or what is the next step, please. I am sorry if I come across green - I am.

Since the purpose of this forum is the BETA testing of the program, I'd expect that "mike admin" will address the problem you've encountered.

See if you can run and submit a Debug log - although from what you've described, it may not be possible...

This looks very much like a hardware issue.
