Just started to rip some (old) dvd's to find out it failed because of read errors.
So I thought I would give the builtin copy of Windows a go.
The DVD reader ran at a slower pace (I could hear) and copied everything without an error.
Maybe MakeMkv tries it at max speed and doesn't retry at a (much) slower speed ?
Regards, Leo.
General READ errors
Re: General READ errors
More likely it is taking more than your configured number of retries to get valid data from some sector. And the Windows DVD player accepts errors, while MakeMKV won't.
In Preferences->IO, you can increase the retry count.
Cleaning the disks will probably help.
But you may need to dig up a DVD-only drive to read some of them. BD readers are capable of "seeing" more noise than DVD readers.
