No Audio

I tried ripping a DVD of mine but the rip doesn't have any audio. I played the DVD to make sure the audio worked, and the audio played just fine on my DVD player. However, I can't seem to figure out why there isn't any audio in my DVD rips. Is there a way I can fix this? Any help will be very much appreciated! Thank you!

Two possibilities.

First - your playback program does not support the codec used for the audio, but your DVD player does. Test the MKV file with VLC, which understands pretty much all the audio codecs used in DVD and BD commercial disks, to see if it really is there.

Second - you have set a "preferred language", which will not select audio tracks unless they are tagged as that language. If a disk doesn't have that language, you get no audio tracks. And mislabeled language tracks are a common problem.

"Preferred language" fixed it for me.

I'd set it to English and the film I was ripping was made in France.

Changed the language setting to Auto, reripped, all good.

Thanks, Woodstock.
