I have been using MKV for years and have a purchased license. Recently, I've been having errors reading discs causing the ripping operation to fail when copying the .MKV. I have tested the same disc on two different computers with the same result. No issues watching the disc on VLC on the same computer so it shouldn't be a disc or drive issue.

When running VLC in "DVD play mode", it emulates a DVD player... right down to skipping over many types of read errors, so long as they're short in duration.

MakeMKV does not do that - if it encounters an error, it is going to make a few retries, then report the error and abort if that doesn't work.

Have you read the rip error "read me first" yet?
