DVD version RED 2
MakeMKV version: v1.10.5 [win(x64-release0] GUI version: v1.10.5 [win(x86-release)]
as on May 27, 2017 red 2 still cannot be ripped.

i'd attach the log file but error in red shows "Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

I read through the info related to the link provided for dvd read errors. none of it applies to me, the disc or the burner

OK, append to 1st post, for RED 2. 6 months later
MKV version: 1.10.7 for windows 7-64
new RED 2 dvd disc ( just in case it was the dvd - it wasn't )

For some reason, your drive is going OFF LINE during the rip. The usual cause of this is power issues. As the drive spins up towards its maximum read rate, it runs out of power and shuts down.

This is commonly seen with USB-powered drives that are plugged into a hub that doesn't have its own power supply, especially if the drive has a "two-head" cable like LG and Samsung ship with their USB drives. It's solved by making sure the drive has access to full power, which means a powered USB hub, or most motherboard USB ports.

(Mike probably should update the errors page to add the possibility of power issues, because they are rather common)

my drive isn't having issues reading all discs, only RED dvd and bluray it seems, i just ripped the intern, guardians of the galaxy II, and triple x: the return of xander cage.

speaking of red II on bluray, upon opening disc, it gave a list, a huge list of 67 folders of 31.3GB to 31.6GB which is impossible since its a standard bluray, even with compression, no way its going to hold that many 31.xx folders of files.

RED 2 is issued by Lionsgate. You will find at least two threads here on "which is the correct title", because Lionsgate floods the directory with false play lists. It is also one of the many disks that, with the Java Runtime installed, MakeMKV can find the "FPL_MainFeature", no matter which version of the BD you have (yes, it changes based on where and when you bought it).

USB drives have trouble when the disk is laid out in a way that lets MakeMKV run it up to full speed.

It may be that you're trying to rip a false playlist that points to areas outside the burned area of the disk; Some do that. But it is rare to see the errors you're reporting when that happens; it's usually a seek error. If you're ripping the BD, MakeMKV should post a message about looking for Java and whether or not it found it; that doesn't happen with the DVD, because the menus work differently.
