Error opening disc Boardwalk Empire

I have problem opening the disc for the series Boardwalk Empire.

I have tried to open it in Handbreak and it gives me 4 titles, 1,2,4 and 8. Title 1 and 2 is the "correct" ones.

This is the issue, I think:

Mike will have to translate what that code means, but MakeMKV wasn't able to complete building its description of the disk's contents.

Thanks for the reply, do you think that this issue get resolved or do i have to make this series with handbreak (dont like that)?

I can't say for sure. Only Mike can, and he's probably going to want more information from you. Start with the information requested in the FAQ link in my signature, and email the requested files to support@makemkv.com so that he gets them.

A bigger question would be, CAN you rip this disk using Handbrake? Or do you get errors with it? Handbrake is FAR more sensitive to disk errors than MakeMKV.

Why? Because Handbrake isn't intended to rip copy-protected (encrypted) disks - it can only do so if you install a 3rd-party library that enables handling CP disks, and the libraries that it will work with are not very aggressive when it comes to dealing with imperfection.

If an error occurs in a HB rip, the resulting file is just closed at the point it was at. An error at 5 minutes into a 3 hour movie will give you a perfectly good 5 minute output file.

To be honest, a fingerprint or a scratch in the wrong place can give you the issue you're seeing. MakeMKV does a more detailed scan of the disk directory structure than Handbrake does, which means HB can think the disk is fine, even when it isn't. I had a disk just today that seemed to be ripping slow, with no errors. I got tired of it taking 45 minutes to rip a single title, so I pulled it and cleaned/waxed it. The second attempt at ripping sped up considerably!

And yes, it is working with Handbreak, tried yesterday with the first disc and there was no error.

This is a bug. The workaround is to note the proper title number in any DVD player, and use manual mode /manualdvd/ to open the disc.
