hi, I'm very new to using MakeMKV (or any other ripping software) and I'm running into issues with several DVDs. I am trying to rip a copy of "Curious George - A very Monkey Christmas" to mkv and then use handbrake to shrink it down into a manageable MP4 for my son's tablet. When I try to rip the DVD it processes in about 10 min with no obvious error messages, but the resulting mkv file only has the audio and no real video. There is about a quarter of the screen that shows some moving color while the file plays but no real images. I'm probably missing something very simple and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Here is the output log from MakeMKV

DVD errors, get audio but no video
Re: DVD errors, get audio but no video
What are you using to play the file? Many times, "no video" or "no audio" is because the player cannot handle what was on the disk.
First and foremost - MakeMKV is not going to create an MP4 file for you. It will copy the audio, video, and subtitle tracks you tell it to save (either explicitly or via preferences) into an MKV container, which can later be processed by other programs, or played directly by programs that know how MKV works. And neither Apple IOS nor Android natively support MKV files... You need apps to do it.
You can check what audio/subtitle selections are being made by clicking on the little triangle next to the title in the LEFT window, to expand the information about that title.
Now, here's an opportunity to channel your inner child.... PLAY. Try different things. You really should enable "expert mode" (General tab under Preferences) to open up some more options, including the ability to try different profiles, and change the "default" selection rules for tracks within a title.

Re: DVD errors, get audio but no video
I'm using VLC media player to try to view the MKV file, with no luck. I was just trying to use MakeMKV to rip the file, then I was going to use Handbrake to transcode it to the MP4 format for use on the tablet. I have also tried with two older DVD's - Gladiator & The Last Samurai and get the same effect. Also when I tried to use VLC to view the movies right from the DVD they give me the same effect, normal audio with a small square of shifting color in the upper center-left part of the window.
