Have a question on what an error means

Post by dlingen » Sat Dec 13, 2014 4:40 am

I'm new to MakeMKV, 1.9.0 beta Winx86, and am using it to move my 800+ DVD library to a Plex media server so I can watch my movies around the house with out the hassle of working directly with the media. I've spent several hours looking through the forum and have not found an answer to this question but I'm sure it is there somewhere. On multiple occasions I get a DVD that gives me this error message: "Cells 3-end were skipped due to cell commands (structure protection?)" The number varies but is usually a 2 or 3. Does this message mean my rip is bad? Do I care about this message? If so what can I do to fix it?

Thank you all.

Usually, no. It typically means that the directory said a file was X cells long, but other information on the disk said the real data was just a portion of that.

However, it is usually a good idea to verify any tracks that were tagged that way during the scan fully extracted. I have had disks where there is one track with "all" episodes, but an episode got left out of the final rip because the data was weird. After I sent him the information requested in the FAQ link in my signature, he created an SVQ file that fixed the way MakeMKV handles that disk.
