Greetings all ...
I have MakeMKV version 1.8 x64 running on Windows Vista Ultimate x64.
My DVDs, which I am transferring to MKV format, all have Dolby Digital 5.1. Audio.
However, when I open a DVD disc in MakeMKV and click on the down arrow against the Title, no 5.1 option is shown. I am only provided with DD2.0 and DD2.1 options.
After transfer, the files are not unexpectedly reported by my media players to have 2.1 Audio only.
Could someone kindly explain how I can include Dolby Digital 5.1 audio on the MKV files of the DVDs that have 5.1?
I have read about the DTSHDDEC.DLL file and downloaded and installed ArcSoft's TotalMediaTheatre v6, thinking that it was the DTSHDDEC.DLL file which might be missing - however following the installation, no such DTSHDDEC.DLL library was installed anyway. Do I need that library to include the 5.1 Audio? If so where might it be obtained?
It would be excellent if someone could let me know what I need to do to ensure that Dolby 5.1 Audio remains on my video files after conversion ...
Many thanks
Kenneth Spencer

Perhaps you could attach a screenshot showing what options are available for selection?

Using version 1.8.0 for Windows, I opened a disk that is labeled as having Dolby 5.1 audio. MakeMKV reports this as "DD 3/2+1 English", 6 channels, 48000 sample rate.

Thanks Smithc. and Woods. ...
Sorry not to have replied earlier, but time and other things ...
I will post a screen shot of what I see when I pull down the track information. However, I know from memory that I did not see any audio track count nor any audio sample rate. I did see 2.0 on some and 2.1 on others. These were DVDs with DD5.1 encoded.
Since my original posting, however I have been able to get DD5.1 out of a different media player. But I will post a resulting screenshot just as soon as I can.
Many thanks again!
Ken.
