Born in East LA

Post by floatinjoe » Wed Feb 16, 2022 2:27 pm

I tried ripping "Born in East LA", and it doesn't include the first chapter in the resulting MKV. The disc has both a 16:9 and 4:3 version, and both start at chapter 2. What's interesting is that if I try to open the disc manually, it shows the full 19 chapters and the correct runtime. However, even when doing this, once MakeMKV opens the disc, it still drops the first chapter.

Any thoughts?

I tried DVD Manual Mode. When I do that, MakeMKV shows the full title in the selection screen (see second pic in original post). Then, once it opens the title, it is the same shortened title it gets when opening the full disc.

Sorry, missed that. I would have expected ripping title '1' in manual mode to have produced a valid file. Unsure whether Mike would deem it a bug, or just another example of creative disc authoring...
