Corrupt or invalid at offset 89866240 - 89585664

Post by RamonVM » Mon Jan 27, 2020 9:10 pm

Hi :)

I bought a DVD from many years ago but brand new.

It could convert almost everything to MKV except one title.

The error is shown as follows:

Code: Select all

The source file '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB' is corrupt or invalid at offset 89585664, attempting to work around
The source file '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB' is corrupt or invalid at offset 89866240, attempting to work around
Failed to save title 3 to file C:/Users/
Is there any way to transform that last title to MKV, or is it impossible? :?: :(

I hope someone can help me please.

Cleaning the disk will probably help a lot. The longer disks are stored, the more likely they're contaminated with chemicals from the packaging process.

Thanks Woodstock! :D

I confirm that the problem is not from the Make MKV program.

I have watched the DVD and played it on two different computers as well as on a Bluray and I can see that in one or two trailers of additional material there are problems.

A trailer apparently can not even be seen and the other the image looks damaged.

That DVD supposedly was made in 2001 and until today I opened it, so it may be what you mentioned.

It don't look like that it has any damage on the disc surface. I even think that it could be a bad manufacture or edition of the DVD since the production was a low or mid size publisher.

Anyway, how do you recommend cleaning it?

Thanks a lot.

If you read through this topic, you'll find more information about common read problems. On the 4th page, there's a link to:

It has some suggestions.
