Monster Trucks

Tried ripping directly from disc on 2 computers. No visible scratches or damage to the disc. I get the following error:

Tried a backup and got a similar error, however I was able to copy all files from the disc to the Backup folder with no errors. I'm currently running a rip from backup, but I'm getting a LOT of errors and it's been running for over a day. Here's a sample of the errors:

It seems to be that the video descriptors are referring to non-existent sectors - probably as a copy protection mechanism. Is there a way I can convert this disc to .MKV?

Your two log samples appear to be the same log, since the "rip from hard drive" has the same offsets for read errors as reading from the BD.

If the backup completed, it would have done a hash check on the files, to make sure they matched the disk. If they didn't match, the backup would have failed.

Do the errors move around any when you try ripping more than once, or are they always within a few sectors of the offsets shown in this log?

Hi Woodstock. Yes, you're right, I copied the second log lines incorrectly. I have updated the post.

Sorry - should have put this in the Blu-Ray errors forum.

As for the forum, don't sweat that too much... Not many people pay attention to that, really.

It seems that your drive could not read part of 00351.m2ts, and the copy-to-disk operation filled in what it could. Mike has said that some BD drives will not report errors if they can read SOMETHING from the disk, which you can get away with with many players (momentary video/audio glitch). But it isn't good for a rip.

What is strange is that the backup should have failed with a bad hash for this file.

Have you done the cleaning ritual yet? It could be as simple as a finger print or some contamination on the disk
