Star Wars - II and III

Post by MakOwner » Sun Apr 10, 2016 8:12 pm

I'm trying again to make copies of my Star Wars disks so I can add them to the media server.

With DVDs I usually use dvdbackup on Linux because it preserves the menu and chaptering.
This time around when ripping Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones I get a libdvd "no VTS_TMAPT" error.
I get a full sized ISO when using genisoimage, however the play aborts during chapter 29.

With Attack of the Clones ---
So, I got ot MakeMKV and attempt to extract just the movie,
I get a lot of the *.VOB is corrupt messages, the failure messge and you wind up with a 100MB or so MKV file...

Code: Select all

The source file '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_05_1.VOB' is corrupt or invalid at offset 329267200, attempting to work around
Failed to save title 0 to file /Videos/ATTACK_OF_THE_CLONES_D1/title00.mkv
1 titles saved, 1 failed
With Revenge of the Sith I get the same results with an added error message about a kernel bug slowing things down.

Two separate workstations running the same 64 bit linux desktop and kernel version.

Anyone got any hints?

Clean the disks. The drives are having issues reading parts of the disk. The ISO creation process probably bypassed the errors, and what it put in the place of the unreadable data blows up everything else.
