This will not properly rip. I've tried it on a Apple SuperDrive and on a Samsung Blu-Ray Player. Attempting to play the video with DVD Player plays the video just fine, and there are no scratches on the disc. Enclosed are the logs files. Hopefully this can be remedied.

There may be no visible scratches, but your drive says it can't read part of it:

Players will skip over unreadable sections, because most people won't notice a small blip in the video. But MakeMKV doesn't ignore bad sectors; It's trying to make an exact copy of what is on the disk. This is necessary if you're going to do post-processing of the video, since tools like handbrake will interpret errors in the data stream as the end of the video.

The fact that two different drives had problems with the disk points to a disk problem. Scratches don't have to be visible to cause problems. And fingerprints or any hazy film on the disk can make large areas unreadable. This is why the first line of attack in cases like this is cleaning the disk. I use the controversial step of cleaning with water-based furniture polish, which leaves a thin film of wax to smooth over minor scratches.

My experience has shown that Bluray drives are worse than DVD drives, probably because of the wavelength of the laser. I have a number of DVDs that can be read just fine in a DVD drive (red laser), but have lots of errors in a BD drive (blue laser). I had one just this week... had to pull out my USB DVD drive to rip it, after 3 different BD drives said it was unreadable.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately it is not correct in this case. There have been a couple of times where I have been able to get the title to show to rip. Upon doing so, the resulting video will have very large gaps in it (sometimes as large as 3-5 seconds or more - quite noticeable to the viewing eye). However, when the video is played via a player, those same gaps do not happen. As a result, it's a problem with MakeMKV, and not the disc. (The disc is also brand new. I know that technically ab rand new disc can have scratches, but none visible, and as many rental/Netflix discs that I have read with scratches, it's hard to imagine an imperceptible scratch causing such an issue when discs with clear and numerous scratches work just fine)

If MakeMKV completed the rip on a BD, it compared the "hash" of the MKV file against the hash table embedded in the disk. It will log an error if they don't match. Did you see such an error? If the hash matches, there is a very, very low probability that the content of the MKV file differs from that of the BD.

How are you playing them back? What you describe is very consistent with a player that can't keep up with the video bandwidth. The audio continues, but the video starts to "smear" for a while, until another "key frame" comes by, and it resynchronizes.

I'm playing them on a high end i7 iMac. I play DVD, Blu Rays, and rip both constantly. I also play the ripped content. There is no issue with my system not being able to keep up. I know what that looks like when it happens and this is not the case. MakeMKV simply can not rip the content approximately and I'm looking for assistance with the program so that this issue can be fixed. If any additional info is needed, I don't mind providing it, but as you pointed out earlier, it's not reading the disc properly when there is no physical reason for that since playing the video directly does not encounter the issues.

Just wanted to "thank" everyone for their help with this issue. As it turns out, I was able to successfully rip the disc using another piece of ripping software using the same SuperDrive that I have, and with no loss of video or audio (or at least detectable as opposed to the multi-second segments originally missed by MakeMKV). I love this software, and it works wonderfully, but when it fails, it simply fails.
