Alan Parson's On Air - Illegal Mode

#1 Post by yespage » Sat Oct 11, 2025 2:01 am

I have Alan Parson's On Air DTS disc. I was trying to make a backup to do a track rip with another software, but I get errors. Wasn't certain what was going on other than maybe better or older encryption.

Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:ILLEGAL MODE FOR THIS TRACK' occurred while reading 'BD-RE PIONEER BD-RW BDR-XD05 3.10 SFDL143896UC' at offset '524288'

That's a DTS audio cd, isn't it? Not a movie or tv show.

I don't think MakeMKV can rip DTS audio CDs.

Yes, it’s a DTS audio disc. Those often use a nonstandard structure, so most ripping tools can’t read them properly. You might have better luck with a dedicated audio extractor like Exact Audio Copy or foobar2000.
