Certain discs won't rip

I keep getting this error:
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:MEDIA REGION CODE IS MISMATCHED TO LOGICAL UNIT REGION' occurred while reading '/VIDEO_TS/VTS_02_1.VOB' at offset '2048'

On random discs. All of my dicsc are USA region, and play fine on my normal DVD player. I don't understand why I'm getting a region error. So far, I've had 15 different movies give this error, the rest of them have ripped just fine. Is there a setting I need to change somewhere?

Any chance these are knockoff DVD's?
