The West Wing - The Complete Series fails...

#1 Post by LGTrader » Tue Jul 16, 2024 3:14 pm

Hi,
I'm a licensed user who has used the program for years. I bought what looks like a very clean set of DVDs on Ebay but most all of it is failing in MakeMKV. All discs have been cleaned and there are no obvious scratches. I have tried in both Kubuntu Linux and Windows with the same results. Note that the discs seem to play fine using VLC on Kubuntu.

SEASON 1: Disc 1 failed to rip any episodes. Disc 2 ripped 3 of 4. Disc 3 failed to rip any episodes
SEASON 2: Disc 1 failed to rip any episodes.

Same results on Windows and Linux. Tried 2 different USB DVD with no improvement. Using Ver 1.17.7 on Windows and I think 1.17.5 on Linux.

Hopefully someone can point me in a direction that will solve this. I don't know anything about expert mode so if I need to go there let me know what to do.

NOTE: In Windows the path to the log file appears to be incorrect as show in the 2nd line below.

Experiment w/ the different DVD opening modes - CellWalk, CellTrim, CellFull

'CellTrim' has occasionally met w/ some success.

I tried with different opening methods on both Linux and Windows using makemkv.

I purchased a Windows DVD ripper and it failed also.

I decided the discs were just bad, or at least not worth the time, and send them back.

I tried the above solution but it still fails. Do you have any other idea on this?
What does the MakeMKV log show? Can you copy & paste it into a post here?
