Failure to read Rocky & Bullwinkle Season 3 Discs 2-4 on 1.17.0+

Post by sephirothkefka »

I recently was ripping Rocky and Bullwinkle on 1.17.6 and they failed to not only open but failed to make ISOs immediately after mounting. Reverting back to 1.16.7 is perfectly fine. Here is the debug log:

Anyone know whats going on? I feel like this is a niche issue as all other DVDs are perfect. This is a ClassicMedia/Sony Wonder title if it helps.

There are different DVD Opening modes. Maybe MakeMKV is getting confused with the default opening mode.

Okay that's very weird.
I tried auto which I didn't do earlier (instead of just CellWalk or CellTrim which both didn't work by themselves) and then it just worked straight away. Usually I prefer CellWalk by itself as it makes episodes easy to distinguish.

I was going to post about this same topic - I managed to get disc 2 to work (after multiple attempts), but 3 and 4 continually fail almost instantly (on 3 different drives).
However, I wanted to add - for the sake of "why not try something random" - I broke out DVD Decrypter, and was able to make an ISO of both disc 3 and 4.

With that said.... I did not know about the "DVD Opening Modes" feature and am going to play around with that.
sephirothkefka - thank you for making this thread
dcoke22 - thank you for pointing out the DVD Opening Modes
