Empty VIDEO_TS folder

Post by chuckthetekkie »

I have come across some DVD's that appear to have an empty VIDEO_TS folder but do actually play and MakeMKV cannot backup as ISO nor as mkv videos.

When trying to rip the disc I get the following:

Code: Select all

MakeMKV v1.17.4 darwin(x64-release) started
Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE WH16NS60 1.03 KLGL14F2634d" opened in OS access mode.
udf: udf_get_node: bad allocation extension size in udf_node
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=4083C4CCDB14)
Using direct disc access mode
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #0 does not match one in IFO header.
udf: udf_get_node: bad allocation extension size in udf_node
Calculated BUP offset for VTS #3 does not match one in IFO header.
Not sure how to rip these discs.

Also if I try to rip it using another Mac program called MDRP (Mac DVD Ripper Pro) it thinks the title of all these disc is "Spiderman Into The SpiderVerse (2018)" for some reason.

DVDs can have different file systems at once, like ISO 9660 and UDF:

Eventually the disk is mastered to show an empty folder in one of those file systems, eventually to fool programs like MakeMKV.

As far as I know, you can't tell MakeMKV which file system it should use. (I used Isobuster to show the various file systems.)
