Ripping Alf Season 3 Disc 1

Post by White »

Hi all,

I'm struggling to rip the Disc 1 of Season 3 of the show Alf.

In normal mode I don't get the correct first episode. The first ripped file contains the first episode but also the second and the third.

So I've thought this is the reason why "manual mode" is implemented in MakeMKV so let's use it.

This are the Manual Mode information from MakeMKV:
Disk-Informationen
Label : ALF_SEASON_3_DISC_1
Titles count : 11

Titelinformationen
1: 1/1 - 13 Kapitel 1:12:53 15 cell(s)
2: 1/2 - 2 Kapitel 0:00:12 2 cell(s)
3: 1/3 - 1 Kapitel 0:00:00 1 cell(s)
4: 1/4 - 6 Kapitel 0:24:17 6 cell(s)
5: 1/5 - 5 Kapitel 0:24:18 5 cell(s)
6: 1/6 - 5 Kapitel 0:24:17 5 cell(s)
7: 1/7 - 5 Kapitel 0:24:17 5 cell(s)
8: 1/8 - 5 Kapitel 0:24:17 5 cell(s)
9: 2/1 - 10 Kapitel 0:49:34 11 cell(s)
10: 2/2 - 5 Kapitel 0:25:34 5 cell(s)
11: 2/3 - 5 Kapitel 0:23:59 5 cell(s)
The title information from VLC player (running the first episode of the disc) is this:

I tried to create a "manual mode" string but failed. Can anyone give me an example for the first episode of this DVD?

Thanks in advance for any help / hints.

I also have the Alf series, though European/German version.

What's stopping you from going the normal way? If I open the disc, MakeMKV shows me this:

Manual mode goes like this:

So I too get the first item which is kinda a "Play All" button so to speak. But I have enough single videos as well. Plus according to the DVD menu the disc only contains six episodes. So it's kind of looking through which episode is which anyway.

Thanks for bringing light into this. I was confused because I looked for the begining of the first episode and couldn't find it because. But I only looked into the preview pictures generated by my "explorer". I just had to started playing the first 10 seconds then I would have recognized that the first episode is indeed ripped only the order was episodes rubbish. But sorting the episodes is a quick job.
