Dragon Ball is unable to rip

Post by CoolJZero »

Hey there guys first time on the board now I was digitizing my dvd and Blu ray collection using all types of software and when I exhausted my list ended up using Make mkv I have used it to digitize more then half my collection with some issues here and there but that's a topic for another post. My main issue here is when I try to rip my dragon Ball and Z collection first and second disc for both I seem to be getting an error telling me the disc was made by dvd fab/mac ripper, please use genuine disc instead, now that got me worried because I thought I bought a genuine copy so I downloaded VSO inspector and it tells me the disc has only 1 layer and the file size is 4.2gb and it's able to play on all regions plus the burn date was 2052. Is there anyone here with a genuine collection that could confirm some information about the disc because I'm afraid I have purchased an inferior copy. The disc it self looks very authentic the art work is printed on you can't see the data on the disc and obviously everything from the sleeve to the case seem spot on.

I ran into this with a bundle of Dragon Ball on Amazon that had the entire series. I returned that set and bought the seasons as individual sets. All the discs in the bundle that could be read produced the same message regarding DVDfab, but a few disks couldn't be read at all. From the individual seasons, these are some of the immediate differences I saw:
  • On the disks from the bundle, the yellow text on the label was matte. On the individual seasons, the yellow text on the label was gold and reflective.
  • The disks from the bundle were single layer. The individual sets had dual layer disks. The sets both had the same # of disks, so the video files from the bundle had lower video/audio quality compared to the individual sets.
  • The packaging on the bundle had some slight color-matching issues between the sleeve and case. On the individual sets the colors weren't mismatched.
Here's the file info via MediaInfo from my copy of S1D1_T00 for comparison.

So just to clear things up did you return the bundle because it wasn't genuine or was it more like a manufacturer that would use single layer for bundles and dual layer for singles. It's just that I want to know if my copy is genuine or not.

I returned the bundle when I ran into ripping issues on the disks. I can't say whether the original bundle was genuine or not, just that it was not identical to the individual sets. There were certainly quality differences in the content between the two, physical differences aside.

Also, I own a fair number of Funimation's DVD collections, and that bundle was the first I've ran into that's produced the DVDFab message.
