Trying to make a copy of "The Man With The Golden Gun" (https://www.amazon.com/Man-Golden-Gun-S ... B00004RG63)

It fails every time with lots of errors saying

I'm on a Mac 10.11.6 using MakeMKV 1.10.5

On the same computer, I can play and watch the entire movie with no issue. I've also tried copying the DVD to an .iso and reading from there and still doesn't work. I can also watch the .iso like a normal DVD on the computer.

The fact that the MakeMKV gets past so many of the bad areas, they seem to be transient, or, more precisely, marginally bad, and retries gets through them, most of the time. But, sometimes, it can't, and so the title is skipped.

Have you cleaned the disk yet? Damp, soft cotton or microfiber cloth, no harsh chemicals, ESPECIALLY ammonia (it will kill the disk surface). Even new disks can have "something" on the surface that causes issues with reading.

I have similar issue with this title. scans ok, i click the icon to make the file... about 45 sec later

no idea why it wont save this title. it reads fine. it completed the rest of the bond movies from these set(s) perfectly.

As mentioned earlier in this topic, most of the errors you're seeing seem to transient... retrying the read eventually gets past them. It finally hits one that cannot be read with retries, and aborts trying to save it.

This can happen with a drive that tries not to report error. If a read doesn't match the on-disk checksums, it responds with what it could read. If that data is not consistent with what SHOULD be there for a DVD or BD, MakeMKV will log it as being corrupt, and tell the drive to try again.
