I'm trying to rip 3rd Rock From The Sun Season 1 to MKV.
I'm using an iMac with 1.6.15 and the Internal Drive and a Sony External Drive.
I have tried both drives, original DVD, ripped VIDEO_TS folder & Ripped ISO.
I get the same problem each time and it is driving me nuts.
Episode 03 from Disk 2 keeps failing at 820.3MB.
It says it is a total of 853MB and is the only episode on the disk bigger than 800MB.
I've polished the disk and there are no marks on it.
My log file is below:
Here's hoping you guys can help!
Christopher

Re: Failed To Save Title - 3rd Rock S01D02
This is a disc mastering error. Workaround will be added shortly, thanks for the log.
Re: Failed To Save Title - 3rd Rock S01D02
I have exactly the same problem with 3rd Rock from the Sun.
Most of the episodes of the DVDs cannot be ripped.
(in Season1-DVD3 all the episodes wont be ripped).
Using v1.6.15 in Windows, a Samsung external drive, ISO image in external hard disk.
My log file of Season 1 - DVD 3, is below:
Thank you for your help in advance.

Re: Failed To Save Title - 3rd Rock S01D02
Hello Mike,
I understand this is an old topic, though I am now encountering the same issue with MakeMKV 1.9.1. Was the workaround for this issue ever added?
I cannot rip the offending title using MakeMKV at all, even by opening the DVD manually. My workaround was to rip the offending title in DVDFab as an MKV file (pass-through).
There is no doubt that mastering errors exist on this disc, particularly the offending title, given the corruption towards the end of this title.
Cheers,
Jason.

What do your logs say? Work-arounds usually stay available, although some single-disk work-arounds end up as SVQ files that are downloaded automatically (assuming you haven't disabled checking for updates).
If you have debug logging turned on (FAQ in my signature says how to turn it on), you will see messages about what is being tried, as well as any failure messages.

Re: Failed To Save Title - 3rd Rock S01D02
Hello Woodstock,
Thank you for your suggestion. I turned on debugging and checked over the logs, though was unable to discern anything obvious - certainly nothing regarding SVQ files and I do have updates enabled.
I have sent the debug logs together with the '*.ifo' files from the offending DVD to 'support@makemkv.com'.
Cheers,
Jason.
