MakeMKV Fails While Scanning Contents, Without Any Error Message.

Post by stecoop »

I've been trying to make a backup of Disc One of Season 4 of "The Twilight Zone - The Complete Definitive Collection".

The backup fails, without any error message, while scanning the contents, before it actually starts copying it. I have tried this on two different drives AND two different copies of the disc (I bought a second set when the first one failed). All of the other discs in the collection backed up just fine, without errors or failure. For the most recent failure, I logged the events in debug mode:

Again, two different drives (both Pioneers, different models), AND two different copies of the disc from the same publisher.
I could really use some help figuring this out.

Tonight, I tried a different DVD to ISO utility; it worked perfectly, no errors. Makes me wonder what MakeMKV is seeing on those discs that's making it jump off the bridge.

Hi, I had the same issue (failing during scan without error message) and was also able to resolve it with a different DVD to ISO utility. Posting here in case the debug logs help:

I do have Virtual Clone Drive on my computer which I assume is what it's reporting at first, but the disc (a spotless copy of "Legend of the Last Labyrinth") was ripped using the LG GP65NB78. MakeMKV was able to save the disc contents to .mkv files without issues as well.
