Problems with SmallVille DVDs ...

I started ripping my SmallVille DVDs.

The first season went well, with the second season, I only tried the first two disks - but my Temery DVD burner would eject the disks after trying to open them with makemkv!

I thought this to be a strong copy protection, so I bought a Verbatim Blu-Ray burner PN 43888 with model code KIAB, which is reported as Pioneer BDW-UD04 and tried again.

But sadly, only 2 of 4 episodes on each DVD could be ripped.

But then, i saw it:

The DVDs from 3 of the seasons, 18 DVDs, habe some strange random line within the outer regions!

This DVDs are simply bad!

I was watching those DVDs only once, many years ago and have no idea if this "line" was there all the time.

I added a picture where this line can be seen, it goes around the whole DVD - all 18 of them.

Anybody has an idea how this could happen?
Or if this probably was there all the time? I had no problems to play them in a real DVD player back then, but I don't have one anymore to test this.
