The Giver DVD

Post by Traveler2032 »

I am new to MakeMKV, so maybe this is a known problem/solution, but I've had a couple of disks error out on me like this. The latest is "The Giver". The error is below. What can I try to resolve it?

Code: Select all

It depends upon the cause. Does the offset change for different runs?

The generic problem is that the drive starts moving faster than it has power to, and shuts down. This often happens with USB-powered devices, and is fixed by either keeping the drive from going that fast, or giving it full power (plugging in both USB cables to INDEPENDENTLY POWERED USB ports.

But it can happen on fully-powered devices, too. Rare, and the errors are usually different, in that the drive doesn't shut down.

Both are USB drives, but I definitely have both drives plugged direct into motherboard Super-speed USB ports which should prevent power problems (750W PSU, both motherboard power cables are plugged in). I've ripped about 300 CDs and this only happened on 3 of them.

I will check if the offset changes. I'm not sure.
