DTS metadata Lost

Hi
I’v been using makemkv for year.
I used to rip bluray with flac profil.
But recently i’v discovered that movies with dts or dolby codec i have some cool dynamic range setting on my denon avr 3600.
Those metadata setting disapear with the flac conversion.
So i went back to the normal profil conversion. But i’v noticed that even if the dolby/dts audio core is on the converted file, it is not displayed on my denon, it’s like it was just pcm.
it’s is displayned on my infuse player though.

Is anyone had this problem ?

Thanks 🙂

Are you playing .mkv files via Infuse on an AppleTV 4K?

https://support.firecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/217735707-Audio-Options-Capabilities

The AppleTV is going to send LPCM audio to your receiver.

Hi dcoke

Yes that’s my config
I see so whatever the conversion, the codec is converted to lpcm.
It’s strange that apple tv / Infuse is able to decode dolby atmos eac but not DTS and Dolby True HD

Thanks !

If you search you'll find a lot of speculation about the AppleTV 4K eventually supporting real audio passthrough. But it hasn't happened yet. Maybe that feature is tied to new hardware, or maybe not. Maybe that new hardware is dependent on new Siri, which seemingly may never ship. In the end, since it is Apple, they're unlikely to mention their future plans.
