What do I do with all the MKV files?

Hi, all.

I'm ripping Blu-Rays for the first time.

I see that MakeMKV rips a bunch of files in addition to the large file of the movie.

Do I just create a folder on my external hard drive with the title of the movie and dump all the files into it?

Also, how do I play the movie, and how do I play the movie with the English subtitles--if available--turned on?

Apologies: I'm a newbie.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

You can reduce the number of files ripped in a variety of ways.

One is to set the minimum time above 120 seconds; some people use 1800 seconds (30 minutes) minimum, but that limits you when ripping things like TV series.

Another is to simply deselect things you're not interested in. That's what the little check boxes next to each title will do.

Some people (like me) rip everything over 2 minutes and watch the short videos once, then toss them. Sometimes, they're interesting. Other times, they're promos for other titles.

Woodstock,
Well I can RIP the UHD files easily now with MKV, BUT, I can't merge all the files into one! I got MKVTOOLNIX but nothing seems to be working to merge them all into ONE PLAYABLE FILE. Can you help or send me in a direction to get the process down? I have done it one time (FLUKE) I think, because I couldn't get it to do it again. I am just missing some step or something. I put all the MKV pieces into the TOOL and then go to MULTIPLEX them but I get an immediate error. I think it is just me... for sure, because I have not used this before. Can you help or explain how to get all the 't' files into one PLAYABLE?
Thanks in advance... Dan'o

Out of curiosity, why are you trying to merge multiple .mkv files together?

While there may be better ways to go about this, the simple answer to your question is to choose "Append files" in the MKVToolNix UI, rather than "Add files". The result will be a concatenation of all the selected files (without a menu).
