Does anybody know if its possible to put a new mkv file (I added a audio track + subs) on the 4K disc I ripped it from?

You want to put a new file on a read-only disk? Seems to be an impossible request.

Unfortunately no, this is not possible, but you might be able to write the new mkv to a BDXL disc if your drive supports it.

The disc you ripped it from is a ROM (Read-Only Memory) disc, and was made by pressing microscopic pits and lands into the plastic of the disc itself.

However, there *is* software out there that claims to be able to copy a UHD/4K video file (such as an mkv) to a BDXL 100GB disc, though full disclosure I have no idea how well it works. It's called DVDfab iirc, might be worth a shot for your use-case :)
