Multichannel audio instead of dts/dolby

I am using the latest version and all my rips have multichannel audio instead of my favorite DTS. Can someone give me a link where I can fix this? I tried to find subjects on this forum related to my problem but cannot find it.

MakeMKV just rips what's on the disc. If the disc has Dolby Digital and not DTS, then there's nothing MakeMKV can do.

MediaInfo is a handy utility for seeing details about your .mkv files.

It seems to be only 4K disc that has 7.1 dolby or dts, it just comes out as multichannel.

It seems to only be 4K disc and it doesn’t matter if the 4k disc has dolby or dts, it just comes out as multichannel.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'multichannel'.

Can you use mediainfo and post what it says about the .mkv file in question?

I did not know about mediainfo.exe, thank you.
Attached is an html export but this forum couldn't take it so I copied it and saved it as a txt file.
You can see the "MLP" and also Dolby TrueHD which that should have been the one instead of MLP; thats for surround sound 7.1
Let me know what you think

You can copy and paste text and add it to your post. Right now we don't see anything.

So you got everything in the file. Your problem is how you play the file.

Pretty much all of my 4K rips that have Dolby TrueHD audio look the same in MediaInfo.
As you probably know, the lossless audio formats, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA, have what is referred to as a 'lossy core' inside them. It is constructed in such a way that old receivers and players that can only decode regular Dolby Digital AC-3 or DTS will play the lossy core and ignore the rest. Newer equipment that can decode the lossless format will play the lossless stuff and ignore the lossy core. Lots of software playback systems can get a little confused by this, so MakeMKV will, by default, make a copy of the lossy core as a separate track in the resulting .mkv file.

My example here is Dolby TrueHD that also happens to have Dolby Atmos and the lossy core of Dolby Digital AC-3 as track 2.

MLP or Meridian Lossless Packing refers to the compression algorithm used to compress the Dolby TrueHD stream.

As Coopervid has suggested, it might be the case that your playback setup isn't dealing with the Dolby TrueHD audio correctly.

Okay, thank you for the advice. I have an oppo 4k player (203) and I changed the audio playback setup to output bitstream instead of auto. I still get MLP as an audio choice but when it goes into my onkyo RZ810, it now reads as Dolby TrueHD 7.1! Thank you.
My Oppo still cannot choose Dolby and only gives me MLP (for 7.1) and the others (5.1) is Dolby 5.1
I really like my Oppo because it can handle SACD music and I have an 18TB hard drive attached to the USB 3.0 for my 4k movies, thanks to this forum and MakeMkv software.
So, it’s no big deal when my choices are MLP and dolby 5.1. I am only concerned if I can do something about it. The MLP translate to Dolby TrueHD in my onkyo which is fine.
Thanks to all for help
