Track 2 audio blank after rip

I'm trying to back up a DVD to .MKV whose default language (track 1) is Chinese and track 2 is English. When I play the disk or an .iso copy, the lead-in allows you to select language and subtitle language. Then when played, the sound is English and subtitles English - it plays just fine. However, after I create an MKV with MakeMKV, track 2 English is selectable but is blank. I can choose the track, but there is no sound at all. English subscript is okay. HandBrake doesn't even offer a 2nd audio track. So, what the heck? How can I get the English audio track?
