How to play 4K UHD ripped movies using VLC

Hi ... new to all things ripping, VLC and using UHD friendly drives. I bought a UHD friendly drive from one of the prominent forum members here that I received a few days ago. I've managed to figure out how to rip my 4K discs using MakeMKV program.

My movie folders are shown below:

1. How can I use VLC to play the ripped files. I point it to the 1917 folder (for example), and it freezes for a while then abruptly quits windows. Each of all my movie folders have a structure as shown below.

I bet the answer is very simple, but can anyone point me to the right way to point VLC to play these movies?
Thanks!

To open it in VLC do open disc and select bluray then find the folder and open it.

But I'm not playing a bluray disc but ripped 4K video files on my local c-drive. Did I misunderstand your answer?

You ripped it as a folder it needs to be treated as a disc as it has the same structure
